The 11th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is just around the corner. The excitement is palpable as the 12 franchises prepare for the player auction on August 15 and 16 in Mumbai. This year’s auction promises to be a thrilling spectacle. Over 500 players up for grabs, including top-tier Indian stars and celebrated international talents.

PKL Auction LIVE Updates

Ahead of the auction, teams have already secured their core squads by retaining 88 players across three categories. These include 22 Elite Retained Players, 26 Retained Young Players, and 40 Existing New Young Players. However, with 212 slots still available, the auction is set to be fiercely competitive. Franchises vie for the best talent to bolster their squads.

Some of the biggest names in kabaddi, including Indian stars like Pardeep Narwal, Pawan Sehrawat, Maninder Singh, and Sachin, will be in the spotlight as they go under the hammer. International sensations such as Mohammadreza Chiyaneh Shadloui and Fazel Atrachali are also expected to attract significant bids. These players are likely to command top-dollar bids, making this auction one of the most anticipated in PKL history.

Auction Categories and Bidding Process

The auction will categorise players into four groups based on their base prices and roles.

  • Category A players will have a base price of Rs 30 lakh.
  • Category B players will start at Rs 20 lakh.
  • Category C players are priced at Rs 13 lakh.
  • Category D players will have a base price of Rs 9 lakh.

Players are further divided into raiders, defenders, and all-rounders according to their skills, allowing teams to strategise and bid for the roles they need to fill.

Franchise Budgets and Strategies

Each team enters the auction with a total purse of Rs 5 crore. However, the available budget for each franchise will depend on how many players they have already retained and at what cost. With a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players allowed per squad, franchises will need to balance their bids carefully to build a well-rounded team for the upcoming season.
