Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh not possible?
The ICC issued a statement about the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh following the recent developments in the country. The global body said that it was monitoring the situation closely along with BCB, the country’s security agencies and ICC’s independent security consultants. The statement added that the ICC’s priority was the safety and well-being of the players.
The Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place between October 3-20. Earlier in July, BCB officials had optimistically stated the event will go on as planned The 10-team Women’s T20 World Cup will be played over 18 days in Dhaka and Sylhet. The final will be on October 20.
How can Bangladesh pull it off?
The houses of several cricketers, including Mashrafe Mortaza and Litton Das, were set on fire by the angry protestors as violence continued in the country. With unrest gripping the state, it remains to be seen what course of action will the BCB take and it largely depends on when the political instability in the country would come to a stalemate.
