The International Cricket Council (ICC) will hold a meeting between October 18-21 to decide on the fate of Pakistan hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has being going all out to ensure that the preparations for hosting the marquee event will be completed in time. Amid the uncertainty over Pakistan hosting the event completely, it has come to light that the ICC will discuss the matter in a meeting later this month.

ICC meet to decide Pakistan’s fate for hosting Champions Trophy 2025

As per Cricket Pakistan, the ICC will hold a meeting where the PCB officials will present a detailed report on the updates in the construction and renovation works for the project. Additionally, the report states that the BCCI’s viewpoint, in terms of traveling to Pakistan, will be a key point of discussion in the meeting and which will be crucial to determine whether the tournament will be held in Pakistan entirely or not. Earlier, reports had suggested that the ICC was also considering the hybrid model option. However, Pakistan has remained adamant in retaining the hosting rights for the tournament.

An ICC delegation is also set to visit Pakistan in November as a part of one of their final inspections to oversee Pakistan’s preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025. The delegations who have visited Pakistan previously have been reportedly satisfied with the preparations. Additionally, certain ECB officials are also expected to travel to Dubai from Multan for the meeting.

PCB chief Moshin Naqvi has been constantly monitoring the renovation works at the stadiums and has directed officials to ensure that the work is completed on time.

The PCB’s efforts to boost the infrastructure comes amid the uncertainity over Pakistan hosting the tournament entirely. Although Pakistan has remained adamant that they will host the tournament no matter what, India is yet to confirm if they will send a team to the neighbouring nation. Reports of ICC also considering a hybrid model for CT 2025 also did the rounds earlier, similar to how the Asia Cup was hosted. However, nothing has been confirmed so far and it remains that Pakistan is the host nation at present.
