Sri Lankan cricket fans are a passionate bunch, no doubt about it. When their beloved Lankan Lions take the field, you can bet the stadium will be packed. Take the recent ODI against India, for example. In the second ODI, where the hosts crumbled India due to Jeffrey Vandersay’s magic, the entire Colombo Stadium was packed with passionate fans.

But here’s the kicker – it’s not just their home team that gets the Sri Lankan fans’ blood pumping. Turns out, some Indian cricket superstars have managed to snag a special place in their hearts too. Some legends are just too big to be confined by national borders.

So, who are these boundary-crossing heroes? Well, you might’ve heard of them: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and even the retired maestro, MS Dhoni. These guys have become the reason why many Sri Lankan fans find themselves cheering for Team India.

Our man on the ground, Abhishek Shetty from Insidesport, decided to get to the bottom of this. While covering the India vs Sri Lanka ODI series in Colombo, he went straight to the source and asked the local Lankan fans why they support India. And guess what? Almost everyone had “Virat Kohli” on the tip of their tongue. The King seems to have conquered Sri Lankan hearts as easily as he conquers bowling attacks. But Kohli’s not the only one feeling the love. The “Hitman” Rohit Sharma got plenty of shout-outs too. Looks like his explosive batting style has hit Sri Lankan fans for a six!
