Day 6 (Sept 3) awaits India with new medal hopes at the Paris Paralympics 2024. With medal prospects in para-shooting, para-archery, and para-athletics, the nation is expected to have even more success. Nitesh Kumar headlined Day 5 with his stupendous Gold medal in para-badminton.
What’s in store for India at Paralympics?
In para-shooting, Avani Lekhara, a two-time Paralympic champion, will be aiming for a gold medal in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position SH1 event. Her teammate, Mona Agarwal, is also expected to make a strong showing. In para-archery, Pooja will represent India in the recurve women’s individual competition.
However, India’s best hopes for medals might lie in para-athletics. Deepthi Jeevanji, the world record holder in the women’s 400m track event, is poised to bring India its first gold medal in the sport. Bhagyashri, the 2024 World Championships silver medalist, is another strong contender.
Mariyappan Thangavelu, a former Paralympic champion, along with Shailesh Kumar and Sharad Kumar, are expected to contribute to India’s medal tally in para-athletics. With a strong contingent of athletes and promising performances in the previous days, India is well-positioned to achieve significant success on the sixth day of the Paris Paralympics.
