Pink Test are a rarity nowadays. And BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that in the forthcoming future, the India Cricket Team won’t be playing any pink ball Test matches. The reason? These pink ball Test matches get over in 2 days and this is a major blow for fans and broadcasters.

Jay Shah has revealed that he gets emotional when it comes to Pink Ball Test matches. Since these matches get over withing a short span of time, the broadcasters and the ticket sales suffer a major hit. As a result, for a Test match it is expected that a fan would buy tickets for 5 days. But if the match finishes early, it is a loss for everyone.

No Pink Ball Test matches for Team India

“No, there are no provisions. Pink-ball Tests get over within two days in India. As a result, spectators lose money, broadcasters lose money. We need to look at sentiments also. As a fan, you go to a cricket match and buy a ticket for five days, but the game gets over within two-three days. There is no refund. So, I am slightly emotional in this case,” Jay Shah told the Times of India.

India last hosted a Pink Ball Test match back in march of 2022. After now after 2 years, the team hasn’t hosted a single game. And as things stand, the BCCI has no intention of hosting it. One might argue that normal Test matches too get over in 2 days. To this Jay Shah argued that id the opponent plays badly then there is nothing he can do. As for him, he is proud that Team India is playing well.

“That’s not happing today. If the opposing team plays badly, what can I do? If our boys are playing well, I can’t tell them to let the game last longer,” Jay Shah concluded.
