While it is common to compare son’s potential to his father, it also unjust sometimes.

How has Samit Dravid performed thus far?

Another father-son duo in the news recently is Rahul Dravid and Samit Dravid. The former Indian team head coach’s son recently bagged his maiden T20 franchise contract at the KCA Maharaja Trophy 2024. Playing for Mysore Warriors, Samit Dravid has showcased potential but is yet to has that headline-making innings.

Warriors have given a chance to Dravid junior to showcase his mettle right from the start. Batting at number four, he has not looked to play for himself but has instead showed attacking mindset. While his father, Dravid was known for his dogged approach and defensive astute, Samit has instead a wide range of attacking shots, including a fabulous six against Bengaluru Blasters.

And now, in the Mysore Warriors vs Gulbarga Mystics match, Dravid performed superbly but again fell short of a big score. Alongside skipper Karun Nair, he stitched a match-changing partnership of 83 off 49 balls. While Nair batted exceedingly well for his 66, Dravid made sure he was noticed and hammered four boundaries and a solitary maximum. His only six was magnificent to watch, a sumptuous blow over the infield on offstump against a spinner.

Although Dravid has scored 47 runs in the tournament, some of his ball-striking have been phenomenal to watch. This means, he certainly has raw potential and innings by innings, he will only going to improve.
