Yogesh suffers from Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes weakness in his limbs. Despite this challenge, his mother never lost hope. She decided to study physiotherapy to help her son regain his strength and stand on his own feet.

Yogesh Kathuniya began para sports in 2016, inspired by Sachin Yadav of Kirori Mal College. He set a world record in the F36 category with a 45.18-meter throw at the 2018 Berlin World Para Athletics Championships. At the 2020 Summer Paralympics, he won silver in the men’s discus throw F56, earning the Arjuna Award in 2021.
