Pat Cummins has claimed that the shortest format of the game, especially IPL is extremely appealing. And thus it shouldn’t interfere with Test Cricket. “Franchise cricket for some countries is more lucrative, more appealing than international cricket. If I went and played franchise cricket, I could probably be away for a half or a third of the amount we are for Australia,” Cummins said at the MCC World Cricket Connects 2024 at Lord’s.
“In Australia, Test cricket is from November to January, and basically, no other cricket is going to get in the way of us playing Test cricket then. If we can have specific windows for IPL, but then also Test windows, that makes the decision-making for the players a lot easier,” he added.
WTC Finals clashing with IPL 2025?
Should Australia qualify for the WTC finals then it will be a busy schedule for the Team of the Down Under. The World test Championship (WTC) Finals are slated to take place in June, which is roughly a month after IPL 2025 ends
Since a majority of the Australian players take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) it will be difficult for them to shift their game style and prepare for red ball cricket.
